I want to recommend this book. It's my first Sharon McCrumb mystery, but it won't be my last. I just finished reading it and I must say, I'm a bit sleep deprived because of it. It's not a recent publication, but it has held up well and has attracted a diverse and loyal readership.
McCrumb has created characters and plot that in less skillful hands would be so complicated as to fry the brain. However, she makes each piece of the story totally compelling and brings all the parts together for a completely satisfying conclusion. Never for a moment did it become tedious. Quite the contrary. I could not put it down.
So if you are seeking an enjoyable and imaginative Summertime read, this one should be on your list.
