What's Curious About the Incident of the Dog in the Night-time?

This is a novel, a screenplay and a theater event. Read the book, read the screenplay, or see the show or, better still, do it all.

This play, based on the novel, is told in the first person by an autistic teenager playing at being a detective of a very different kind of murder mystery, and the effect in remarkable. I believe the adaptation of the book to the stage began in London.

I was fortunate enough to see it on Boadway in May and was enchanted. It was everything great theater should be about. The acting and the staging were among the best I've ever seen anywhere. Unusual for an adaptation, the storyline was completely faithful to the novel without losing any of its punch. I read the book after seeing the show, but either way would be fine.

I believe the play is now (or soon will be) available via the national touring company in many cities around the United States. See it. You won't be sorry.
